Japanese
The Japanese language is studied at Fig Tree Pocket State School from prep through to year six. These years provide a foundation which will enable learners to progress far more rapidly in later years of study.
Effective communication is fostered through the development of sociocultural knowledge, listening skills, linguistic awareness and general knowledge. By the end of year six the students should be able to communicate their needs and converse within the limits of the functions studied in class.
The Language other than English (LOTE) program at Fig Tree Pocket State School ensures learning experiences are scaffolded and sequenced to build confidence and to support students in their endeavours to comprehend and compose language. Unit plans are aligned with the teaching and learning requirements outlined in the Education Queensland, Essential Learning documents.
