Outside School Hours Care (OSHC)
The Fig Tree Pocket State School Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service is a valued and well-established part of our school community. The service operates under the Fig Tree Pocket State School P&C Association and is guided by the OSHC Management Committee.
The service is led by Coordinator and Educational Leader, Bonita Hall, who holds a Bachelor of Education and brings extensive knowledge and experience in supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing. Bonita works alongside a team of dedicated and caring educators who are passionate about creating a welcoming, inclusive and engaging environment for all children.
Many of our educators are currently studying education or related fields at university, bringing enthusiasm, creativity and fresh ideas to the program. All staff hold a current Blue Card and maintain up-to-date First Aid, CPR and emergency training. In addition, we aim to ensure the majority of our staff are trained in epilepsy awareness and management, supporting the safety and inclusion of all children within our care.
Our program is guided by the My Time, Our Place (MTOP) Framework for School Age Care, which focuses on supporting children's wellbeing, confidence, independence and sense of belonging. Through child-led experiences and intentional programming, we encourage children to explore their interests, build friendships, develop resilience and grow socially and emotionally.
We provide a fun, inclusive and engaging environment where children can participate in a variety of activities including:
- Creative arts and crafts
- Outdoor play and sports
- Games and social activities
- STEM and problem-solving experiences
- Quiet spaces for relaxation or homework
Healthy afternoon tea is provided each afternoon, and children are encouraged to contribute their ideas to the program to help shape activities that interest them.
The OSHC service is open to children of school age and welcomes families from Fig Tree Pocket State School as well as children from other local schools within the community.
