Fig Tree Pocket State School is located on five hectares of beautiful grounds in the western suburbs of Brisbane, not far from the Brisbane River. The school currently serves the communities of Fig Tree Pocket, Kenmore, Chapel Hill, Indooroopilly and the Centenary suburbs.
The community consists of informed parents who have a high awareness of educational issues. The community has high expectations of the schooling system and forms a supportive parent group. We have a current student population of 497 with a maximum capacity of 522.
The school has a positive and supportive atmosphere that has contributed to an enviable reputation. High parent and student satisfaction is evident in the opinion survey conducted by Education Queensland and this is accompanied by student achievement results that are amongst the highest in the State.
Staff
The school is proud of its dedicated and committed staff, a number of whom have had a long association with the community. Our current staffing includes twenty-three classroom teachers, four specialist teachers - music, HPE, extension and Japanese, fourteen teacher aides, a HOC, Curiosity and Powerful Learning coach a learning support teacher, guidance officer, chaplain, computer technician, a schools officer, three administration support staff, a Deputy Principal and Principal.
