We acknowledge both the Turrbul and the Jagera peoples as the Traditional Custodians
of this land on which our school is built and where learning takes place.  We recognise
their ongoing connections to land, waters and community.

We pay our respects to the Elders past, present and emerging for they hold the hopes,
dreams, traditions and cultures of Aboriginal Australia.

Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Fig Tree Pocket State School, a vibrant learning community where every child is known, nurtured and challenged to reach their full potential.  At Fig Tree Pocket SS we are learning for a better world.

At the heart of our school is a strong sense of belonging and purpose. We are proud of our long-standing reputation for academic excellence, inclusive values, and commitment to developing the whole child. As Principal, I am honoured to lead a school community that upholds high expectations, while fostering curiosity, creativity and compassion.

Our school culture is underpinned by our HEART valuesHonesty, Empathy, Acceptance, Resilience and Thoughtfulness – which guide the way we learn, interact and grow together. These values are lived daily and deeply embedded in both classroom learning and the wider school community.

We are committed to building a community of capable, confident and future-ready learners through our Learner Assets framework, which supports every child to become a:

  • Collaborator
  • Communicator
  • Researcher
  • Thinker
  • Self-Manager
These assets are integrated across all year levels, encouraging students to take ownership of their learning, work effectively with others, and solve problems creatively and independently.

At Fig Tree Pocket State School, student voice and leadership matter. Our students lead and participate in a variety of meaningful initiatives including:

  • Heartfelt Helpers (student-run wellbeing initiatives)
  • Student Council
  • Year 6 Student Leadership Team
  • Peer Buddy Program supporting younger students

We also offer a rich array of extra-curricular opportunities across the Arts, sport and academic domains. From choir, instrumental music and drama, to sporting teams, academic competitions and clubs, our programs cater to a wide range of student interests and talents, helping all learners to thrive beyond the classroom.

Whether you are a current family, a new enrolment, or simply seeking to learn more about our school, I encourage you to explore our website or get in touch with us directly.

We would be delighted to welcome you into our school community.

Warm regards,

Carolyn Bofinger
Principal
